Principal's Message
Hello Woodmont Families,
As the proud principal of Woodmont K-8, I am excited to continue the work at our school dedicated Project Based Learning in a STEM environment. I am so grateful for our wonderful scholars, families, and staff who continue to support Woodmont being an incredible place to learn and grow!
We have so much to celebrate as we continue to have a laser focus on learning and growth. Our goal is to focus on Social Emotional Learning coupled with Multi-tiered systems of support through effective collaboration. We are proud to be in the top 3 schools in the district with the highest attendance and will continue to ensure scholars feel that they belong and are connected here at Woodmont.
While continued growth is still at the forefront, I am so proud of our scholars for working so hard each day to learn new skills. This school year, we will continue our work PBL (Project-Based Learning) while working to strengthen our instructional practices in service of all scholars. As part of our efforts on, there will be dedicated time in each grade level for core instruction in addition to blocks of time in both ELA and Math for both intervention and extension opportunities. This will provide scholars with exactly what they need. We are excited to introduce a new ELA curriculum in grades K-2 which provides integrated content with a focus on individualizing instruction.
One of our biggest focuses this year is to increase our data utilizing best practices to provide differentiated instruction through small groups and strong learning routines. Our goals include increasing our overall math and ELA scores schoolwide by at least 12%. We also have a stretch target to ensure 97% of scholars do not have any exclusionary discipline while utilizing our strategies to help scholars be successful emotionally.
We are hopeful for a wonderful year together and I am proud to continue serve the Woodmont community.
In partnership,
Mrs. Shawn Kocher
